Add size, color, and other product options
If a product comes in multiple sizes, colors, materials, or styles, use options and variants. The customer picks a combination on the product page and LaunchMyStore tracks inventory, price, image, and SKU at the variant level.
Add options to a product
- Go to Products and open the product (or create a new one).
- Scroll to the Variants section.
- Click Add options like size or color.
- Enter the option name — e.g., Size.
- Enter values, comma-separated —
S, M, L, XL. - Click + Add another option to add Color, with values like
Black, White, Navy.
LaunchMyStore generates a row for every combination automatically — e.g., 4 sizes x 3 colors = 12 variants.
Edit each variant
In the variants table you can set per-variant:
- Price — different sizes can cost different amounts (e.g., XL priced higher).
- Compare-at price — for the strike-through.
- SKU — unique stock code per variant.
- Inventory per warehouse — quantity at each location.
- Barcode — UPC/EAN/ISBN.
- Weight — for shipping calculation.
- Image — upload an image; the storefront swaps to it when the buyer picks that variant.
Color swatches
If you name an option Color (or any name configured as a color option in Settings > Variants), the storefront automatically renders color swatches instead of a plain dropdown. Upload a per-variant image to make swatch hover even richer.
Reorder, rename, delete
- Drag the option header to reorder (Size first, Color second — or vice versa).
- Click an option name to rename it; variants update automatically.
- Delete a value (e.g., remove "XL") to remove all variants using that value.
Save
Click Save. The product page now shows the picker, and inventory is tracked per variant.
FAQ
How many options can one product have?
Up to three options per product. For more dimensions, use product metafields or split into separate products.
Can I have a variant with no image?
Yes. If a variant has no image, the buyer sees the product's primary image. Adding variant images is recommended for color and material options.
What's the difference between an option and a variant?
An option is the dimension (Size). A variant is one combination (Size: M, Color: Black). LaunchMyStore creates variants automatically once you define options and values.
Can each variant have a different barcode?
Yes — barcode is per variant, so each size/color combination can have its own UPC/EAN.
How do I sell only specific combinations?
Delete the variant rows you don't want to offer. The product page won't show the picker for combinations that don't exist.
