Offer local pickup (in-store collection)

Local pickup lets customers collect their order from one of your physical locations instead of paying for shipping. When you turn it on, shoppers see a Pickup option at checkout, choose a location, and pay nothing for delivery. It's ideal for stores with a counter, a warehouse, or a collection point near their customers.

How it works

  • You enable pickup on any warehouse/location and (optionally) add pickup hours and instructions.
  • At checkout, customers in your country see a Ship / Pickup toggle. Choosing Pickup hides the shipping rates and shows your pickup locations instead.
  • Pickup is always free — no shipping charge is added to the order.
  • The order arrives in your dashboard clearly marked as a pickup, with the location, hours, and instructions so your team knows to hold it for collection rather than ship it.

No app is required — local pickup is built in.

Step 1: Enable pickup on a location

  1. Go to Delivery in your dashboard.
  2. Open the warehouse/location you want to offer pickup from (or add a new one).
  3. Find the Offer local pickup at this warehouse section and turn the toggle on.
  4. Pickup hours (optional): a short summary shown on the pickup option, for example Mon–Sat 10am–7pm.
  5. Pickup instructions (optional): what the customer should do when they arrive, for example Bring a photo ID and your order number. Park at gate B. This is shown to the customer after they choose this location.
  6. Save the location.

Repeat for as many locations as you like. Each enabled location appears as a separate pickup choice at checkout.

Step 2: What customers see at checkout

Once at least one location has pickup enabled, customers see a Ship / Pickup toggle in the delivery section of checkout:

  • Ship (default): the usual delivery flow with your shipping rates.
  • Pickup: the shipping rates are replaced by your list of pickup locations. Each shows the location name, address, and your pickup hours, marked Free.

When a customer picks a location, the address form switches to a billing address (no delivery address is needed for collection), and the order total has no shipping charge.

If no location has pickup enabled, the toggle doesn't appear and checkout works exactly as before — shipping only.

Step 3: Managing pickup orders

A pickup order looks like any other order in your Orders list. When you open it, you'll see a Pickup panel that shows:

  • The location the customer chose
  • "Local pickup · customer collects in-store" with a FREE badge
  • The location address
  • Your pickup hours and instructions

The payment breakdown shows Delivery: 0, so the order total is just the items (plus any taxes). Prepare the order and hold it for the customer to collect during your pickup hours. If you use a shipping app, it automatically skips pickup orders — there's nothing to ship.

Tips

  • Keep pickup hours short and specific so customers know exactly when to come.
  • Use the instructions field for anything that reduces confusion at collection — entrance, counter number, what to bring.
  • You can offer both shipping and pickup at the same time; customers simply choose at checkout.
  • Turn pickup off on a location at any time — the toggle disappears from checkout immediately for new orders.
