Manage your clients' stores (for agencies and freelancers)
If you build or run stores for clients, you don't need their password. Ask for access from your own LaunchMyStore account. Once the store owner approves, you open their admin from yours and work in it. The owner stays in control: billing, payment details, payouts and staff always stay with them, and they can end your access at any time.
Request access to a client's store
- In your admin, open Affiliates and go to the Client stores tab.
- Under Add a client store, enter the email address the owner uses to sign in to LaunchMyStore.
- If you like, add a note so they know who you are — for example, the project you're working on together.
- Click Request access.
The owner is notified in their admin and by email. Your request shows as Pending until they approve or decline it.
Open a client's store
- When the owner approves, the store's status changes to Active.
- Click Open store. The client's admin opens in a new tab with a yellow banner at the top: Managing a client store, followed by the store's name.
- Work as usual. You see the store with the client's plan and its features.
- When you're done, click Exit in the banner. You're taken back to your own account, on the Client stores tab.
Each session lasts up to 8 hours. When it ends, you're returned to your own account and can open the store again from Client stores.
Good to know: while a client's store is open, every admin tab in that browser works in the client's store — including tabs you had open before. Click Exit to switch the browser back to your own account.
What you can do in a client's store
Day-to-day store work, the same as the owner: products and collections, orders, customers, discounts, pages, blogs and menus, themes and the theme editor, shipping, taxes and checkout settings, store details, analytics, and installing free apps.
What only the owner can do
These areas stay with the store owner. If you try one, you'll see "Not available while managing a client store — only the store owner can do this."
- Plans, billing and add-on purchases, including paid apps and app charges
- Payment gateway settings
- Refunds
- Payouts, bank accounts and the store's own partner earnings
- Staff accounts
- Password, email verification and two-factor authentication
- Adding, switching or deleting stores
- Buying or renewing domains
- Approving an app's request for permissions, and the Developer Console
- Creating AI Connector access tokens
- Approving or removing partners
Leave a client's store
To give up your access, find the store on the Client stores tab and click Leave. To work on it again later, send a new request.
Request statuses
- Pending — waiting for the owner to respond.
- Active — approved; you can open the store.
- Declined — the owner said no. You can send a new request.
- Revoked — your access has ended, because the owner revoked it or you left.
FAQ
What happens if the owner revokes my access while I'm working?
On your next action you're taken back to your own account, with the message "Your access to this client store has ended."
Can several partners work on the same store?
Yes. The owner approves each partner separately and can revoke any of them at any time.
Can I edit the client's theme code?
Yes, if the client's plan includes the code editor. Themes and the theme editor work for you the same way they do for the owner.
Does managing a client's store affect my referral commission?
No, the two are separate. If the client signed up through your link or used your code, you earn on their payments as usual — see the partner program.
Can I request access to my own store?
No. Client access is for stores owned by someone else.
