Connect PayPal to LaunchMyStore

PayPal lets buyers pay with their PayPal balance, linked cards, or Pay Later. It's available in 200+ countries and is a popular checkout option for international buyers. Connect once and PayPal appears as a checkout method alongside any other gateways you have enabled.

Before you start

  • You need a PayPal Business account. If you have a personal account, upgrade it from your PayPal dashboard.
  • For card-on-PayPal-page payments and Pay Later, your PayPal account must be verified and underwritten by PayPal.

Step 1 — Connect from the admin

  1. Open Settings → Payments.
  2. Find the PayPal tile and click Set up.
  3. Enter your PayPal business email address.
  4. Click Connect.

That's the minimal setup. PayPal is now live as a payment method at checkout.

Step 2 — Optional: REST API credentials

For server-to-server features (refunds inside the admin, webhook sync) connect your PayPal REST API client ID + secret:

  1. Go to developer.paypal.com and sign in.
  2. Open Apps & Credentials → REST API apps → Create app.
  3. Name the app (for example LaunchMyStore) and copy the Client ID and Secret.
  4. Paste them into the PayPal setup form in the admin.

Refunds

Open a PayPal-paid order in the admin, click Refund, and choose full or partial. The refund flows back through PayPal and settles to the buyer's wallet/card per PayPal's rules (usually 3–5 business days).

Payouts

PayPal credits funds to your PayPal balance instantly. From there you withdraw to your linked bank account on your own schedule.

Disputes and chargebacks

PayPal disputes (Resolution Center) show on the order in LaunchMyStore. Respond from your PayPal dashboard within the deadline shown.

FAQ

What does PayPal charge?

Roughly 2.9% + $0.30 in the US for commercial transactions; higher for international and currency conversion. See PayPal fees. LaunchMyStore adds a small service fee depending on plan.

Do customers need a PayPal account to pay?

No — PayPal Guest Checkout lets buyers pay with a card on PayPal's page without creating an account, in supported countries.

Can I show PayPal Pay Later?

Yes — once your PayPal Business account is approved for Pay Later, the option appears at checkout automatically in supported regions.

Can I run PayPal alongside Stripe?

Yes. Both can be active at the same time. Customers pick at checkout. This is the most common combination for global stores.

Why does PayPal show "currency mismatch"?

Your PayPal account must hold a balance in the order's currency, or be set to auto-convert. Adjust the conversion preferences inside your PayPal dashboard.
