LaunchMyStore service fee and payment gateway charges
Selling on LaunchMyStore involves two fees: the platform service fee and the payment gateway fee. This article explains what each one covers, the rates per plan, and how they're deducted from your payouts.
Two separate fees
- LaunchMyStore service fee — a percentage of every order, in exchange for the platform itself (hosting, themes, admin, apps, support). The rate depends on your subscription plan.
- Payment gateway charges — what the gateway (Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay, etc.) charges to process the transaction. Set by the gateway, not LaunchMyStore.
Both fees are deducted from the order amount before the net is paid out to your bank.
Service fee by plan
| Plan | Service fee | Cap per order |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 4.99% | $2.50 |
| Starter | 3.99% | $2.50 |
| Growth | 1.99% | $2.50 |
| Silver | 4.99% | $2.50 |
| Gold | 3.99% | $2.50 |
| Platinum | 1.99% | $2.50 |
| Infinity | 0.99% | $2.50 |
The service fee is capped per order at the equivalent of $2.50 (or $200 / similar local equivalent). So on a $1,000 order, the service fee is capped, not 1–5% uncapped.
Cash on Delivery (COD)
The service fee applies to COD orders too, with one exception: the Infinity plan waives the service fee on COD orders entirely.
Payment gateway charges — typical ranges
Set by each gateway. As a rough guide:
- Stripe — ~2.9% + $0.30 in the US; varies by country and currency. Stripe pricing
- PayPal — ~2.9% + fixed fee. PayPal fees
- Razorpay — 2% + GST for cards / UPI / net-banking; check Razorpay pricing.
- Regional gateways — see each gateway's pricing page.
How the math works on a $100 order
Example on the Growth plan with Stripe in the US:
- Order total: $100.00
- Stripe fee: $2.90 + $0.30 = $3.20
- LaunchMyStore service fee: 1.99% = $1.99 (under the $2.50 cap)
- Net payout: $94.81
Where to see fees deducted
Open Finance → Payouts and click any payout to expand the breakdown. Each order shows the gross amount, gateway fee, service fee, refunds, and the net that hits your bank.
How to lower fees
- Upgrade to a higher plan — service fee drops from 4.99% (Free) to 0.99% (Infinity).
- Negotiate gateway rates — if you process high volume, your gateway may offer custom pricing.
- Use a regional gateway — local methods (UPI, GCash, etc.) often have lower per-transaction fees than international cards.
- Switch to COD on Infinity — on Infinity, COD orders carry no service fee at all.
FAQ
Are the rates above tax-inclusive?
The service fee is exclusive of any local sales tax / VAT / GST on the fee itself. Tax is added on top where applicable and shown on your monthly LaunchMyStore invoice.
Does LaunchMyStore charge fees on refunds?
The service fee on a refunded order is reversed when the refund is issued. Some gateways do not refund their processing fee, so the gateway portion may stay deducted — check your gateway's refund policy.
Can I pass fees on to the customer?
Card-network rules and consumer laws in many regions prohibit surcharging. Where allowed, you can use a payment customization app to add a percentage fee for specific methods.
Why is my COD fee deducted on Infinity?
If you see a service fee on a COD order on Infinity, it may have been placed before you upgraded. Going forward, COD on Infinity is free.
What does the service fee cover?
Platform hosting, theme rendering, the admin, apps, multi-warehouse, POS, analytics, email infrastructure, and customer support — all included.
