Use the media library to upload and reuse images and videos

The media library is where the images and videos your store uses are kept. You upload a file once and pick it from any product, category, page, blog post, or SEO setting that takes an image — no need to re-upload the same photo for every product.

What you can upload

  • Images — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and similar common formats.
  • Videos — MP4 and the other formats your browser can play.

Each file gets a public URL on the LaunchMyStore CDN and is served over HTTPS so it loads quickly on every storefront.

Open the media library

The media library opens as a picker whenever you're editing something that takes an image or video. Common places it appears:

  • A product's images and video gallery.
  • A category's banner image.
  • A page or blog post's featured image and inline images.
  • Your store's SEO social-sharing image (in Store settings → SEO).

Click any Select image or Upload control in those editors and the library opens.

Upload new files

  1. Open the media library from any editor.
  2. Click Upload and pick one or more files from your computer. You can also drag files in.
  3. Wait for each upload to finish. Larger files take longer.
  4. The new file appears at the top of the grid and is ready to use.

Find a file you uploaded earlier

The library shows your most recent uploads first and paginates through everything else. Use the search box at the top to filter by file name.

Pick a file for the resource you're editing

  1. Click the thumbnail you want.
  2. Click Select.
  3. The file's URL is attached to the product, page, or other resource you're editing.

The same file can be used by as many products and pages as you like — the storefront serves them all from a single CDN URL, so they're cached together.

Delete a file

Open the file in the library and choose Delete. If the file is still referenced by a product or page, the storefront will show a broken image until you swap in a replacement, so check before deleting anything that's live.

FAQ

How is the image served on my storefront?

Every uploaded file gets a global CDN URL over HTTPS with long-lived caching, so storefront pages load quickly and stay fast after the first visitor in a region pulls them.

Can I add alt text for accessibility and SEO?

Yes. Alt text is supported on uploaded media and is the description that screen readers and search engines see in place of the image.

What's the file size limit?

Reasonable web-friendly sizes upload without issue. Very large files (hundreds of megabytes, raw video) can be slow or fail — compress and re-export from your editing tool first.

Can I upload PDFs, fonts, or other file types?

The media library is built around images and video for storefront use. For other file types (downloadable PDFs, software assets, fonts), look at marketplace apps that handle digital-product delivery.

Can apps add files to my library?

Yes. Apps you grant access to can upload media on your behalf — for example, an image-import app that brings in your existing catalog photos in bulk.
