Sell loose goods — fruit, grains, cheese, sweets — by weight. The register reads the weight from a scale (or you type it), prices the line, and can keep your stock by weight.
Choose the items you sell by weight
- Go to More > Billing > Weighing scale.
- Under Items sold by weight, search for a product and add it.
- Pick its unit: per kg, g, lb, oz, l or ml. The product's price is the price per unit.
- Save.
This list is separate from the weight on the product page, which is used for shipping.
Connect a scale
Use a scale that connects to the computer by USB or serial, with Chrome or Edge. Under Weighing scale, set the Baud rate from your scale's manual and click Test the scale.
Sell an item by weight
- Add the item to the sale. A window asks for the weight.
- Put the goods on the scale and click Read scale, or type the Weight.
- Check the Line total and click Add to bill.
Each weighing becomes its own line on the bill.
Scan barcodes printed by a label scale
Label-printing scales print a barcode that carries the weight or the price.
- Under Weighing scale, switch on Read label-scale barcodes.
- Set the Label barcode prefix your scale uses (usually 2).
- Under Label carries, choose Weight (grams) or Price.
The item code in the barcode must match the product's SKU, and the product must be in your items-sold-by-weight list. These barcodes work with a USB barcode scanner.
Keep stock by weight
Each item in the list shows how much is in stock, or stock not counted. Enter a count and click Set to start counting. From then on, weighed sales take the weight off stock, and returns and cancellations put it back. Setting counts needs permission to edit settings.
