Recipes and ingredient stock on the POS

Give each dish a recipe — the ingredients and how much of each one dish uses. When the dish sells, those ingredients come off your stock, so you can see what is running low before it runs out.

Before you start

Create a recipe

  1. Go to More > Recipes and click New recipe.
  2. Click Choose the dish. Under Applies to, choose All variants or one variant (a variant's own recipe is used before the all-variants one).
  3. Click Add ingredient for each ingredient, and enter the Amount for one dish.
  4. Click Save.

Ingredients counted in pieces are rounded up for each sale. You can copy an existing recipe to start a similar one.

What a sale does

Selling a dish at the register, or receiving it as a Zomato or Swiggy order, takes its ingredients off stock. Recipes only move stock — prices and bills don't change. Orders from your online store don't use recipes.

Refunds and cancellations don't put ingredients back. If a dish is returned unused, correct the ingredient's stock count.

Check your ingredient stock

Open the Ingredient stock tab. For each ingredient you see the dishes that use it, how much is On hand, how much was Used (7 days), and how long it Lasts at that rate. Ingredients with under 3 days left are marked Running low.

Ingredients counted by weight show Not counted until you set a count with Set count. Ingredients counted in pieces use the product's normal stock.

The Ingredients used section in POS reports: day-end sales, payments, items, staff and tax shows usage for any period.
