Each blog in your store has its own comment setting. It decides whether shoppers can comment on that blog's posts, and whether a new comment waits for your approval or goes live straight away.
The three choices
- Comments are disabled - the comment form is hidden on the blog's posts, and nothing a visitor submits is saved. This is the default for every blog.
- Comments are allowed, pending moderation - the form shows, and each new comment waits in Appearance > Blogs > Comments until you approve it.
- Comments are allowed, and are automatically published - the form shows and a comment appears on the post as soon as it is submitted. You can still unpublish or delete it afterwards.
Change a blog's comment setting
- In your admin, go to Appearance > Blogs.
- Click Manage Blogs.
- Click the blog you want to change.
- In the Comments card, choose one of the three options.
- Click Update.

The setting covers every post in that blog and takes effect on your storefront right away. When you create a blog with Create Blog Page, you can choose its comment setting before you click Save.
Approve and manage comments
Go to Appearance > Blogs and click Comments. The number next to it is how many comments are waiting for you. You also get a notification in your admin each time a new comment comes in, and clicking it opens the same screen.
- Pending - comments waiting for approval. Click Approve to publish one on your blog.
- Approved - comments that are live. Click Unpublish to take one down; it goes back to Pending.
- Spam - comments you marked as spam. They never show on your blog, and you can still approve one if it was marked by mistake.
Click Spam on any comment to hide it, or Delete to remove it for good. The search box finds comments by the commenter's name, email or text.
Good to know
- Your theme decides where the comment form appears - most themes put it at the end of each post. If your theme has no comment form, turning comments on will not add one.
- Shoppers comment with their name and email; they don't need an account.
- Turning comments off never deletes them. Most themes hide existing comments while comments are off, and they show again when you turn comments back on.
